Firm Overview
At Chalat Hatten & Koupal, we are Colorado lawyers who specialize in serious personal injuries or wrongful death cases caused by the negligence of others, including car accidents, ski accidents, recreational sports accidents and medical malpractice cases. We understand the nature of serious injuries and the details of the law, and we can help.
For many accident victims, the thought of pursuing a legal claim is unpleasant and perhaps intimidating. This is why you need an experienced personal injury attorney to help evaluate your situation. We provide free legal advice during this evaluation period to help you decide the best way to proceed. The free legal advice we offer is a preliminary step we take as a law firm to understand the scope of possible claims and give potential clients a clear view of their situation from a legal perspective.
We have assisted countless individuals receive the compensation they deserve for serious injuries sustained as the result of an accident. Among our clients are former Olympic athletes and professional skiers. We have also acted as counsel for the National Federation of the Blind and the Colorado Center on Deafness.
But we are also very involved in the greater community. Our community support is typically donation funds coupled with significant volunteer time commitments. As a small firm, we believe it is essential for our donations to be effectively utilized, and by volunteering directly to work with a community organization we give even more back to our community as well as ensure good use of the donated monies.
Being committed advocates for quality public education, we have offered significant support to these educational programs:
Colorado Bar Association High School Mock Trial Program
The goals of the Colorado High School Mock Trial Program are to promote an appreciation for American judicial system and court procedures; to build and improve basic life skills such as critical thinking, public speaking, reading, reasoning, team collaboration, persuasive argument, and advocacy; and to increase communication and cooperation between the legal and educational communities.

DBA Community Action Network Snow Carnival
The Denver Bar Association's CAN Snow Carnival was a great success in 2008. Colorado SIDS Program
The mission of The Colorado SIDS Program, Inc. is to provide support and counseling to families, friends, and communities who experience or are affected by a SIDS death; educate first responders and other professionals who deal with SIDS deaths; and provide education throughout Colorado about SIDS, risk reduction, and latest research; and help fund and support SIDS research.
And finally, having represented hundreds of injured skiers, we appreciate the beauty of the sport as well as the need for adequate safety equipment. To these two ends we support:
St. Anthony Health Foundation Ski Helmet Program
A large research and surveillance effort to track both the use of helmets on-slope and the impact of ski helmets on head injury reductions.
RMD United States Ski and Snowboard Association
Rocky Mountain Divisions of the USSA, an Olympic sports organization dedicated to fielding the best skiing and snowboarding teams in the world
The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD)
NSCD began in 1970 as a one-time ski lesson for children with amputations for the Children's Hospital of Denver. Today, the NSCD is one of the largest outdoor therapeutic recreation agencies in the world. Each year, thousands of children and adults with disabilities take to the ski slopes, mountain trails and golf courses to learn more about sports - and themselves. Chalat Hatten & Koupal proudly sponsors a competitive disabled skier through this program.
All our efforts may not be novel or ground-breaking, but we feel notable none the less for consistency and dedication!
